I called to get pricing and see if they would do what needed to be done to my car Without even looking at my car the service manager told me I needed a new or rebuilt transmission. My car has a newer transmission. This was after he asked me my mileage. You can not diagnose a car only going by its mileage. Please take it upon yourselves to actually look at a vehicle before telling someone they need a very expensive priced thing done when is all it needed was the transmission fluid changed, oil changed, new filters, and a tune up. And for this you will not be getting my business.
Valerie, I apologize if you feel we did not help you in the manner in which you expected. When you called in you explained that your car had a code/fault for the transmission and your husband said it was probably just a fluid issue. With transmissions we wish it was that easy. You were asking about pricing for topping off the transmission fluid, or changing it. That is not something that we recommend in a car with over 100K miles (especially without records of previous services). Our service manager asked you for the mileage, as a guide for what he would recommend (since we have no service records for your vehicle). If in fact your car has a newer transmission, you never mentioned that, and should consult with the shop that put in the new transmission, if that is possible. Our Service Manager wanted to direct you to a shop with the most expertise in transmissions. Based on what you told him, his experience is that you would need a transmission, so he directed you to a transmission shop that could re-build or repair inside of a transmission or recommend a full replacement, whichever was warranted. We wish you the best, The European Auto Garage Team.
